A medical goggle as part of the work clothes is a safety goggles. It serves to protect the eyes and the eye region through a close-fitting frame.

Some glasses have an anti-reflection coating. These are characterized by a high transmission: The visible range of light with a wavelength higher than 400 nm is almost 100 percent transmitted. All high-energy light beams up to 400 nm are completely blocked as with the 400 nm edge filter. As a result, disturbing light reflections are avoided. A glare-free, low-fatigue view in the workplace with a mix of artificial light and natural light is thus made possible. Wearing the medical goggles increases performance and safety in the work to be performed, such as manual activities such as surgery, dental technology, reading data and working in the laboratory. Some laboratory glass also blocks the other end of the spectrum: the area of infrared light.
The glasses / discs meet the highest optical quality class according to DIN EN 166. Distortion-free images prevent fatigue in the workplace. If high-impact polycarbonate is used according to the standard, the glasses also offer maximum protection against mechanical hazards. The glasses must be scratch-proof, impact-free and antistatic.
Some goggles are compatible as overglasses with the normal glasses of the user. In other medical goggles, the optical correction can be incorporated into the glasses.
Various plastic materials are processed in the frame by injection molding. Thus, for allergy-interested, metal-free medical goggles are made. A few models are available in metal or metal / plastic finish.
Certain models offer panoramic lenses for an unrestricted field of view with integrated side cover. Since they close all around tight, they have a system with ventilation slots, fold well and stow in the coat if necessary.

The socket provides reliable protection of the eye area from outside influences such as UV and IR light, chemicals, heat, cold, dust and particles. Various tints of the viewing panes - or clear glass - are possible depending on the application.
For example, the employer must provide his employees with medical goggles in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Thus, he fulfills his duty of care to ensure the occupational safety of employees. The worker himself benefits from a more relaxed vision and less stress in the workplace. Safe, unencumbered, glare-free, fatigue-free vision increases the productivity of the work done. This concerns activities in the laboratory such as the experimental procedure or evaluation of experiments, activities in the operating room or in dental technology.
