The human organism is exposed to a multitude of dangers every day. An intact immune defense proves to be extremely important for this reason. If one's own immune system is no longer functioning properly, life-threatening illnesses can sometimes appear.

What is the immune defense?

The human organism is exposed to a multitude of dangers every day. An intact immune defense proves to be extremely important for this reason.

The immune defense occurs as an endogenous defense system in appearance. The human organism should primarily be protected from disease.

Modern medicine divides the immune system of the human body into both a nonspecific immune defense and a specific immune defense. Among other things, the skin is regarded as an essential component of the unspecific immune defense.

The unspecific immune defense is innate. As part of the specific immune defense, the body's own antibodies are considered. A specific immune defense is acquired during the course of life. The medical benefit of the immune defense has been repeatedly investigated in the past.

Medical and health benefits

For several years, the immune system has been given a particularly high level of attention.

So the immune defense protects the human organism from dangerous substances. However, protection against foreign substances can only be guaranteed if the immune system clearly recognizes the body's own substances. Only in this way can a defense reaction against the body's own substances be prevented.

However, the immune system is not only responsible for the detection of foreign substances. In addition to detection, the fight against foreign substances is one of the main tasks of the immune system. To combat substances that are foreign to the body, so-called antibodies are released. As part of the fight against alien substances, the immune system develops a memory.

This memory helps the immune system remember certain substances. As a result, the immune system can be particularly effective against the alien substances. Without an intact immune defense a normal life would not be possible. Nevertheless, it always comes back to serious disturbances in the body's immune system. The consequences of a defective immune defense are explained in more detail in the following remarks.

Diseases, complaints & disorders

In principle, one's own immune system is responsible for the control of foreign substances. These substances include tumors. At the same time, however, bacteria and viruses are also considered to be foreign substances.

Not infrequently, the immune system is directed against the body's own substances. In this case, one speaks in modern medicine of an excessive immune response. Allergies can appear as the result of an excessive immune reaction. If, for example, a particularly high level of stress is present, it can lead to a disorder in the immune system. At the same time, nutrition also has a significant impact on the immune system.

For this reason, vitamins should be high on your own diet. In addition, the supply of trace elements must not be neglected. As particularly important trace elements, both zinc and iron are considered. In the context of a wrong diet your own immune defense can be affected noticeably. The ability to function of one's own immune system can not always be actively influenced. Thus, an immune deficiency is considered extremely dangerous. An immune deficiency is innate in most cases.

In modern medicine, a congenital immune deficiency is also referred to as a primary immunodeficiency. If an innate immune deficiency exists, the immune defense can not respond to intruding dangers. The number of antibodies is in most cases below the required guideline values. If there is a congenital immune deficiency, the persons concerned must exercise a particularly high degree of caution. Otherwise, it may lead to an increased susceptibility to infection.

In addition to a congenital immune deficiency, an acquired immune deficiency is described as extremely dangerous. Acquired immune deficiency is in most cases based on an underlying disease. Thus, an acquired immune defect can appear following a leukemia. Infections can also promote the occurrence of an immune deficiency. As part of an acquired immune deficiency also only a very small number of antibodies is produced. If one's own immune defense is weakened, a suitable treatment center should be visited.
